The movie was awesome. I didn't even feel like it was animated. It is good for the whole family. Finally, movies that are clean and worth watching. Please bring more movies like these to your box office. God Bless

Hubby and I enjoyed David. It was funny, cute, biblical, entertaining. The music was engaging and I do not like musicals. We went today because friends had spoken so highly of it, especially how much their kids enjoyed the movie. I wonder if there will be a part 2. We'll go if there is!

My son loves David and history, so we've been diving deep into David in the Bible. This movie follows David on his way from being anointed as the future king to becoming king. It doesn't focus on his martial issues at all. The movie followed some parts very closely, but then some moments in time were shortened like king Saul chasing David over and over again through the mountains. The final fight was definitely an adaptation of the real fight. Historically David didn't even know the Philistines were going after the Israelites while he was chasing after his captive family but for the movie it has him make his choice of helping his king and best friend or going to save his family and his armies families. They made this with kids in mind, so I'm thankful they did adapt the story to make it shorter while keeping with the historical facts. It is a musical (in case you don't like that kind of thing) but how could it not be? David wrote half of the Psalms and was known for being a musician. They put in small things that you may not catch like Goliath having six fingers which is a trait some of the giants had, including Goliaths brother. I wish I had studied more on the amelakites before watching it the first time to appreciate how the amelakites dressed in animal hides and bones. They looked scary, certainly for kids, but they don't do anything to the captives which is true to the historical account of that battle. The movie gives them the presence of fear without doing an actual bad guy stuff other than kidnapping the families armies. David is all about Faith over fear, in his psalms you see he struggles with things in his life like being hunted by his king and father in law, Saul, while still trusting and putting his hope in God. This movie does the same thing. It gave my son something to aid his Faith while we continue to study Biblical history. I truly hope they create another film like this or small shows like young David and that this movie be

My 7 year old was struck by David's courage presented in a way that a 7 year old could truly absorb.

Overall it was an excellent message of Faith Trust & Hope. Probably would have been too long if it had everything I would have liked to have seen in it. I am going for 2nd time and bringing grands. Went first time with another adult to preview. A hard story to do. Mostly, it followed the biblical account. Such small heads and big bodies, Samuel could have been portrayed better. I did not like how it showed David captured, or to focus on that part. I do Not remember that as a Biblical account (other than one time he pretended to be insane when he thought he was in danger of that). I thought to much emphasis on that. However, loved how positive praise and singing, brought release and an army. When he killed Goliath it made him look like he was 8 or 9 yrs. old rather than 16-18 yrs. David's Biblically portrayed Faith was a strong Faith, built from depending on and walking with God and Trusting Him. However, still 100% better than any other out there for kids. Still an Excellent message of Faith, Trust & Hope in God. Nobody likes being asked for money at the end of a show. I have given to Angel ahead of time, for shows for others. But just to let you know I think for many it could be a turnoff for future customers. :-) So just don't stay for that if you don't want to listen.

Good family movie, nice change from the usual Hollywood depravity. Lol at all the people complaining it was too religious, they probably would give a horror movie one star because it's too scary haha.

A strange movie that seems to be more concerned with pushing obedience to religious authority rather than the nuanced principles of the actual old testament story, which smooths away a lot of the friction in the fable. It then wraps this up in a very clean yet somehow still very flat-looking pixar-adjacent aesthetic for families. It is also worth noting that the distributor, Angel Studios, has been accused of some very ruthless business practices when it comes to the handling of the movies it distributes, and the controversial choices of what it chooses to promote. There is nothing truly offensive here, but worth noting if you intend to take a family to this there is very little in David or its themes to try to encourage thought, and it stands as a poignant example of some very modern north american Christian ends-justify-the-means attitudes regarding fealty and subservience to the institution and repetition of dogma, rather than the emotional core of any biblical teachings.
